During last week, we have been separated to go into certain groups. A few students and I, chose to be in the “Teacher’s Website”.  Lately, we discussed who we’re going to interview, what questions we’re going to ask, how we’re going to design the site, etc. Once we all get our interviews finished we’ll later discuss what we’ll do next. The other groups are designing and organizing another type of website. We’re not posiively sure if we to have a teacher website (Mr. Brown said) by we’re progressing it anyway.

What afterschool programs can do

I’ve heard stories from parents that their children join afterschool clubs to stay out of the streets, so they won’t be in gangs. Since there is a grade/GPA requirement for the student if they do choose to be in a club, they attend to school and get the grades they need. This can encourage students to stay in school. Not only can it keep you out of trouble, it can also look good on resumes, applications, etc.

At Hiram Johnson High School, there are various activities to participate in. Many students from the JCBA academy play a part in the clubs, afterschool programs, sports, etc. Some of us are joined in more than one club. These afterschool programs can provide safe havens for many youths. Some clubs we have are Asian Club, Hmong Club, Track, Dance, Football, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball, Mandarin Club, Maya Club, VIDA, HJ Healthy Way, etc.  Other than that

When the last school bell rings for the day, many children feel a great sense of joy rushing through their bodies because the school day is over and they are given permission to leave the class, but then what? If there is nowhere to go and nothing to do, kids may end up living a life of drugs, gangs, and sex; but rest assured there is a possible solution for many problems youth faces nowadays: after-school programs.  After-school programs are safe, supervised, structured activities held after-school hours that provide new life skills to aid young people with their daily lives, foster their character development, and prepare them for the future. Youth faces numerous problems in everyday life but after-school programs can help with their situations and provide benefits for the participating youth and the community.
